Load Cell
This is a load measuring device based on hydraulics and a pressure gauge. The design is from
the December 1991 Projects in Metal article titled Load Cell by Robert W. Metze. I'm using a
600 psi gauge until I have a need for something heavier. The design claims suitablity up to 2000 psi before
the O-rings tend to extrude in the .001" piston clearance. The psi gauge is direct reading in pounds because
the internal piston bore is 1.128" diameter or 1 square inch. The piston has two O-rings to contain the
internal pressure from the hydraulic fluid inside.
