Wells Bandsaw Rebuild

Found this saw at a farm auction in Missouri for $75 in the late 1980's. I found Wells Saw was still in business, although no longer producing this saw. They were kind enough to send me operator and parts manuals. From these, I was able to determine what few parts were missing and fabricate replacements. This saw was first produced in 1962 as a model 300. The saw was updated in the late 70s and early 80s to a model 57. Mine is a model 300, serial number 4701, probably made in the 1960's or very early 1970's. The gear box was still in great shape and was fully cleaned and regreased. Full cleanup and fresh paint made a like-new saw. It is a 5 x 7 with a 1/3hp motor and uses 64" blades. Wheels and a drop down pull handle were added for portability.
